OnePlus Concept One’s Hidden Camera Than Meets the Eye

the new oneplus concept one has finally been revealed and i’ll be sharing all the details

so what many people expected at the oneplus concept one phone it could be oneplus’s first attempt at a folding phone we’ve known for about a week that it would be a much more simple concept we had a teaser earlier on in the week and oneplus have now released an official trailer as well as showing it off its CES in Las Vegas

for anyone that missed it the oneplus concept one appears to be being branded is the oneplus X McLaren I predicted it in this concept phone would just be a oneplus 8 McLaren Edition and it appears I was correct about McLaren but not about the oneplus 8

the oneplus X McLaren actually shares hardware specs with the oneplus 7t pro but we do have some differences on the outside and mainly in the camera department

the oneplus concept one takes inspiration from the McLaren 720’s we
get a stitch leather in the famous papaya Orange and the glass covering the camera lenses it uses electrochromic glass to hide the lenses behind it the electrochromic glass can change between transparent and opaque by running a current through it which means not only can I hide the lenses when not in use but we can also use the opaque glass as a neutral density filter in photography realistically however one of the most common downsides in mobile photography is not enough light so I don’t see this actually ever being used

the technology in the electrochromic glass however has been modified very well to work with a smartphone and it can make the glass become transparent within 0.7 seconds the frame of the phone is also made of pure gold unlike the stainless steel or aluminium frames we’re used to seeing now well this is pure gold it’s not actually made of solid gold but it uses physical vapor deposition to add a thin coating of pure gold to the device again a downside to this however is that gold is easily scratched so I don’t think it would be long until you start to see this around the edges

so what exactly is the oneplus concept one phone it’s simply a showcase of what oneplus want you to see they can do not necessarily a phone they’re going to be delivering that being said if we look at the specs of the oneplus concept one then it is very much a phone that could find success in the market today we get a full screen 6 point 6 7 inch fluid AMOLED display with a 90 Hertz refresh rate the display is running a resolution of 1440 by 30 120 giving us 516 pixels per inch density and it’s all protected by Gorilla Glass 5

we’ve got an all screen display thanks to a motorized pop-out selfie camera that houses a 16 megapixel wide-angle lens with an aperture of f28 oh and it offers electronic image stabilization on the rear we get a very premium looking papaya stitch leather and an electrochromic glass hiding it a triple camera set up

the camera setup consists of a 48 megapixel wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/16 an 8 megapixel telephoto with three times optical zoom and finally a 16 megapixel ultra wide camera the cameras can shoot 4k is 60 frames a second at an offer optical image stabilization along with gyro assisted electronic

when it comes to the chipset it’s powered by the Snapdragon 855 plus and one not the latest system on chip for 2020 it’s still a very capable chipset given that it’s coupled with 12 gigs of RAM and 256 storage it makes it a very capable device

of course there’s no three and a half mil headphone jack but we do get stereo speakers along with a four thousand and eighty five milli amp hour battery and this supports the 30 watt Warp charging the device of course runs Android 10 in the form of oxygen OS and in my opinion it’s an incredible looking device the main issues here of course is how much battery capacity is wasted on the electrochromic glass how easily is the gold coating scratched off and how much do these changes increase the production cost by

of course this is a concept device so they’ll likely never even try and sell it but it means that they may be considering this technology on a future device and of course that they’ve proved that they’ve already mastered
